The Role of the Equality and Diversity Co-ordinator is to

• Co-ordinate any necessary departmental or sectional responses to University wide equality and diversity policies.  This may include evaluating and monitoring the impact of equality and diversity initiatives within their department/section or as part of a wider team.
• Advise and assist their Head of Department/Section on local equality and diversity issues.
• Take part in equality impact assessments, possibly as part of a wider team.
• Circulate information about equality and diversity events and activities to members of their departments/sections.
• Act as a first contact point for equality and diversity issues raised in the department and refer these, if necessary, to their Head of Department/Section, the Faculty HR Adviser, the Head of DANS, the Equality and Diversity Adviser or other appropriate person.
